RAPA Family Theatre Presents

2016-17 RAPA Family Theatre Season

Featuring: WINNIE-THE-POOH: THE MUSICAL, HANSEL & GRETEL, and THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. Tickets are sold by reserved seating in the newly renovated 180-seat Studio Theatre at the Kodak Center for Performing Arts. All performances are approximately one hour in length plus a short intermission. As always, children can “Meet the Cast” after each performance, with photo opportunities, autographs, and special moments.

RAPA Family Theatre is a professional troupe of adult and youth actors that brings theatre and stories to life for children and their families. RAPA Family Theatre offers a high quality, affordable style of entertainment while fostering communication, enrichment, positive values and an awareness of classic stories to a diverse Rochester audience. Schools and Community Organizations have the option to schedule weekday performance field trips or tour our productions to you.

New York State Ballet Presents

The Nutcracker

The classic Christmas ballet with music by Tchaikovsky, performed by the professional Cordancia Chamber Orchestra.
The story is about the young girl Clara who falls asleep during a Christmas party with her beloved Nutcracker doll who comes alive, battles with the Mouse King, and then takes her to the Land of Sweets, ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy, and a celebration of sweets represented by various dances from around the world.

In this story of Hansel and Gretel the white bird and the little gnome, under the spell of the wicked Witch, are forced to coax children away so that the not-so-scary Witch can eat them. When the children’s father returns home without food or money the whole family goes berry picking. The children become lost in the woods, and the white bird and the gnome put them to sleep until the Witch comes. Meet the characters after the show!

When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood – Live on Stage

Donning his iconic red sweater, Daniel invites the audience on an interactive musical adventure as he and his friends explore their much-loved Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Through the show’s familiar themes and music, the neighbors share stories of friendship, helping others and celebrating new experiences in this live theatrical production filled with singing, dancing, laughter and “grr-ific” surprises that will warm the hearts of multiple generations.
First three rows ($75 tickets) include a Meet & Greet with the characters directly after the show.

An old house in rural England becomes the home base for four children who wander into an incredible country through an old wardrobe and help the country return to summer. In the incredible Narnia, they make friends with the frightened forest people who have almost given up hope for the return of good King Aslan, their true ruler. When Aslan was there, it was always summer. There is a great battle to see whether this magical country will remain under a wintry spell or will, once again, know freedom and summer under good King Aslan. Meet the characters after the show!
