RAPA Family Theatre Presents

2016-17 RAPA Family Theatre Season

Featuring: WINNIE-THE-POOH: THE MUSICAL, HANSEL & GRETEL, and THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. A 20% discount is included for those who purchase The 3-Show Season Package (Disney’s My Son Pinocchio tickets sold separately though the Rochester Fringe Festival). Tickets are sold by reserved seating in the newly renovated 180-seat Studio Theatre at the Kodak Center for Performing Arts. All performances are approximately one hour in length plus a short intermission. As always, children can “Meet the Cast” after each performance, with photo opportunities, autographs, and special moments. Individual tickets are also now on sale.

RAPA Family Theatre is a professional troupe of adult and youth actors that brings theatre and stories to life for children and their families. Kicking off the series with MY FAIR LADY; followed by MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET returning for our annual holiday tradition; SISTER ACT: THE MUSICAL starring Sable Stewart as Deloris Van Cartier and Phyl Contestable as Mother Superior; and closing the season with the hit Broadway musical 42ND STREET. Single Tickets for My Fair Lady and Miracle on 34th Street are now on sale. Single Tickets for Sister Act and 42nd Street will go on sale three months prior to the production.

My Fair Lady

Eliza Doolittle, a rough Cockney girl, meets Colonel Pickering and Henry Higgins in Covent Garden where she’s selling flowers. When Higgins remarks that he could help Eliza speak properly and raise her status in the community, Pickering challenges him to do so and Eliza takes him up on the offer. Though difficult and frustrating for both Eliza and Higgins at first, the lessons soon begin to work wonders, and produce results that neither predict.

After a fabulous run at School of the Arts in September, we are bringing THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW back this Halloween Weekend with a full bar and dinner options.
The Rocky Horror Show tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist unveiling his new creation, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man named Rocky Horror, complete “with dark hair and a tan.” Get ready to do the Time Warp, again!

A holiday classic from Meredith Willson, the writer, of the musical theater classic The Music Man! Based on the movie of the same name, Miracle On 34th Street tells the story of a single mother, Doris Walker, who doesn’t want her six-year old daughter Susan’s head filled with romantic notions. Their neighbor Fred Gailey tries to woo Doris by charming Susan and taking her to see Santa Claus at Macy’s, where Doris works. However, when it turns out that Macy’s Santa may in fact be the real Kris Kringle, a wave of love spreads across New York City that melts even the most cynical hearts.
